Moved By The Holy Ghost ( 2 Peter 1:21) “Bible is the writing of the living
God. Each letter was penned with an almighty finger. Each word in it dropped from the everlasting lips. Each sentence was
dictated by the Holy Spirit. Albeit that Moses was employed to write his histories with his fiery pen. God guided that pen.
It may be that David touched his harp, and let sweet psalms of melody drop from his fingers; but God moved his hands over
the living strings of his golden harp. Solomon sang canticles of love and gave forth words of consummate wisdom; but God directed
his lips, and made the preacher eloquent. If I follow the thundering Nahum, when his horses plough the waters; or Habakkuk,
when he sees the tents of Cushan in affliction; if I read Malachi, when the earth is burning like an oven; if I turn to the
smooth page of John, who tells of love; or the rugged chapters of Peter, who speaks of fire devouring God’s enemies;
if I turn aside to Jude, who launches forth anathemas upon the foes of God everywhere I find God speaking; it is God’s
voice, not man’s the words are God’s words; the words of the Eternal, the Invisible, the Almighty, the Jehovah
of ages. This Bible is God’s Bible; and when I see it, I seem to hear a voice springing up from it, saying, “I
am the Book of God. Man, read me. I am God’s writing. Study my page, for I was penned by God. Love me, for He is my
Author, and you will see Him visible and manifest everywhere.” Spurgeon. I often have religious conversations.
Sometimes the conversation does not start out on religion but eventually works its way there. I have had recent conversations
or chat room discussions online and in person about marriage and divorce, homosexuality and gay marriage, politics, and race,
just to name a few. I am both amazed and dismayed by the numbers of people outside of and especially inside of the church
who will say things that question the validity of the Bible. You will hear people say things like, “King James wrote
the Bible” or that “Man interpreted the Bible”, and they continue to go as far as to claim it has been tainted
in some way and cannot be trusted. Of course many of them will agree with parts of the Bible but use that defense to explainaway
only certain parts of the Bible. If the Bible can be believed when it comes to heaven then whycan it not be believed when
it comes to hell? If one can believe that the blood of Jesus will wash away sins, then why can’t that same one trust
the Bible to determine what is sinful? The Apostle Paul wrote that, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and
is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness” or, in the words of another
translation (more on translations in the coming weeks), “All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking,
correcting and training in righteousness” (2 Tim 3:16- KJV/NIV). In short, all that we need to know from God is in the
Bible. The Bible makes another claim as it relates to its own validity versus the assertions of contamination by dishonest
men. 2 Pet 1:20-22 says, “But know this first of all, that no prophecy of scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation,
for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men) moved by the Holy Spirit spoken from God”. I must exhort
God’s people every where to resist the movement of the day to discredit the Bible and what it teaches. To discredit
God and His word is literally the oldest trick in the book of books, the Bible. The serpent (the devil-Rev 12:9) was guilty
of the same thing all the way back in the Garden of Eden (Gen 3). Eve believed it, she and Adam ate and the rest is history.
The same thing will happen ;now. The devil tells a lie and people of faith pass on the lie and people will be led astray into
sin which will displease God and cause man to be sent away from Him.
Stay with God’s
Word!
