The Lord is righteous in everything He does; He is filled with kindness. The Lord is close to all who call on him, yes, to all who call on him sincerely. He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; He hears their cries for help and rescues them. Psalm 145:17-19 NLT

There are times in our lives that we are more aware how little control we have over our lives and the lives of our loved ones. That realization is very sobering and can spark panic for many of us. What should calm us down is our knowing the nature of the God that we serve. The selected text tells us a lot about God that should reassure us.

David first said that

- God is righteous. This means He has been right and just in His manner of being, actions, and judgments. He is just at all times and in every way possible. He truly is Holy! He has not and will not defraud any man in any way. He cannot lie or be unfair/unjust in any way (Heb 6:18).

- God is close. It should be huge comfort to know that whatever occurs, God is nearby. He is just to all but He remains close to those who call on him "in truth" (KJV). He is a very present help in a time of trouble (Psalm 46:1).

- God is active. He fulfills our desires, hears our cries for help, and comes to the rescue. He answers our prayers. He works things out for good (Romans 8:28 NIV).

Many who will read this here today or in the future can testify to the fact that God has been present in their lives. Many will even state that God has been active in their lives. I believe it because God loves us! Just remember this; nothing can separate us from God's abounding love (Rom 8:38).
